Year 3 Royal Mail Visit
Year 3 culminated their Geography learning on "A Journey around the British Isles" with a visit from Royal Mail to learn about how postcodes are used locate where we live. They learnt about what happens to a letter from when it is posted to when it arrives on the doormat! They also found out some interesting facts about Royal Mail.
Did you know that the Royal Mail is over 500 years old? It was started in 1516 and called the King's Post (it was only for the Kings and Queens!). There are over 48 000 Royal Mail vehicles that deliver the mail - these can be bikes, cars, vans, lorries, quad bikes, boats, trains, helicopters and planes and they are all red! The children used their geography knowledge to ask some impressive questions and were praised afterwards for their excellent behaviour.
