Jane Henderson –

I started teaching in 1980 and six years later, following the birth of my daughter, stopped working, and stayed at home to play with her! My son was born in 1988 and just before his second birthday we moved to Vineuil, nr Blois in France. We spent nearly five years living in the beautiful Loire valley surrounded by magnificent Chateaux! Both my children went to a French school where they were immersed in the language which illustrated to me the importance of learning a language through hearing and living it.

As a native English speaker, I was recruited into a couple of French primary schools to teach English to year 6.

Teacher of French throughout the School

On our return to England, I started working as a supply teacher and found myself at Kings Hill, where I have been ever since. I am enjoying my new role as teacher of French, and hope that my experiences of living in France and watching my own children learn, will help our pupils learn to speak a foreign language. They are getting to used to the idea that I am going to speak to them in French!

Away from school, I sing in four choirs, enjoy cooking, gardening, walking and, of course, holidaying in France
