Picture
Have you ever read a poem which paints a really clear picture in your mind?
This term, Year 4 have been learning how to use language to create images in poetry. We began by reading a selection of poems, such as The Magic Box and Last Night I Saw the City Sleeping, and looking at the use of expressive language to make the poem come alive.
We also experimented with how the addition of sound effects and musical instruments could add to the performance of these poems. Using all that we had learnt, we then wrote our own fantastic poems about Bonfire Night based on one we had read called Using My Senses.
Some children even used thesauruses to extend their vocabulary and create a really vivid image in their readers’ mind. Well done Year 4!
