Forces

This term in Year 4, our science topic is ‘forces’. Our first experiment was to investigate what affects how well a spinner falls. In pairs, we carefully made our own spinners, one from card and another from paper. We dropped them from upstairs in the library down to the ICT suite to give them a good chance to spin. The children timed how long it took for the spinner to fall to the ground and recorded their result on a table. The children had great fun whilst focusing on the scientific language of gravity and it’s pull towards Earth. The children had to discuss with response partners why their card spinner fell faster than the paper one. Do you know why?
