Horton

It has been a very busy term in Y6. This week, following our earlier visit to Horton Kirby where we saw an old water wheel on the River Darent, we have been designing and constructing our own water wheels. This task presented many challenges: we had to design a stand or support to hold the wheel effectively;

The cogs had to be cleverly designed and measured so that the teeth engaged and  then had to be held in the correct position – and all this using mainly card or sticks!
By the time we had finished, we had learned many new skills including the invaluable skill of perseverence, but most of us were very satisfied with our results.

We have all worked very hard this term and are now looking forward to the Christmas break. We are going to enjoy some ‘home time’ so that we are ready for a renewed effory in January.
