Roots to Food Parent Workshop
This year we are very pleased to welcome back Roots to Food who will be visiting Kings Hill School again on the 23rd and 24th January.
Roots to Food promotes education in health and well being. Darren is the founder of Roots to Food, he is a fully qualified and experienced Chef who has decades of experience in education, hospitality and nutritional management. Children throughout key stage two will be given the opportunity to cook a nutritious meal in a cookery workshop.
We will be turning our hall into a practical cooking and learning environment! These immersive and hands-on food workshops encourage children to develop an interest and understanding of healthy and nutritious meals. By constructing, from scratch, a balanced dish in small groups. Pupils will apply their skills to determine what makes a healthy, nutritious meal, learn how to actually prepare the food and apply the principles of good food safety and hygiene.
Please note that Year 3, 5 and 6 will carry out their cookery workshop on the 23rd and 24th January. Roots to Food will then be returning to Kings Hill in April to carry out workshops with Year 4 and in April children in Key Stage One will also have a food and fitness workshop.
On the 24th January at 3 p.m. Darren from Roots to Food will be holding a Food workshop for parents. This workshop will cover life skills, cooking on a budget, nutrition, confidence, fun and free food tasting. Healthy food items for a packed lunch will also be part of the event. Further recipes will also be handed out after the demonstration. We do recommend that you come along !
